Typically used for countersinking Torx™ bolts in concrete railroad crossing pads, B & A Manufacturing Company’s Carbide Counter bore Bits are used to anchor concrete railroad crossing pads to their underlying wooden cross ties using a Torx™ head type bolt. The bolt must be installed below the surface of the concrete to prevent damage to vehicle tires. In colder climates where snow removal is necessary, this countersinking process prevents snowplow blades from shearing off the bolt head. Counter bore a two-inch hole into concrete was a difficult procedure until the advent of the B & A Carbide Counter bore Bit. Powered by an electric, hydraulic, or air powered rotary/percussion hammer, the B & A Carbide Counter bore Bit allows the operator to create a counter bore for any Torx® head style bolt to the proper depth quickly and easily.
