Here are some of the questions we will ask when you contact us for that special tool need. If you have prepared the answers to these questions in advance our response will be just that much faster...

GENERAL QUESTIONS FOR ALL TYPES OF DRILL BITS OR HOLE CUTTERS:

GENERAL:

1. What material is being drilled?

2. If wood, what type and is it wet, dry or treated?

3. If drilling into concrete, is wire mesh, rebar, or any metal present?

4. What is the material thickness?

5. How deep do you want the hole?

6. How many holes need to be made?

7. What is the make and model of the power tool being used?

8. Is the power tool electric, hydraulic, gasoline, or hydraulic powered?

9. What is the rated RPM of the power tool being used?

10. What is the exact hole size that is needed?

MASONRY:

1. What type of shank is needed? (Round, SDS-Plus, SDS-Max, Spline-Drive, Hex, etc.)

2. What is the overall length needed?

3. What is the drilling depth? (Flute Length)

WOOD BORING BITS:

1. What type of shank is needed? (Round, 7/16" Hex, 5/8" Hex, Morse Taper, etc.)

2. What is the overall length needed?

3. What is the drilling depth needed?

4. Is a counter bore needed, if so, what size and depth?

HOLE CUTTERS:

1. What material are you cutting?
On big projects, what additional material(s) might you run into?
(Different materials require different tooth styles, configurations, and grind angles.)
Improper tool and cutting material match can cause damage to the hole saw.

2. What size mandrel? i.e. 1/2" Round or 3/4" Round.
(The shank portion of a Hole Saw if referred to as a mandrel.)
Mandrels are most often used with hand-held drill motors.

3. What size hub thread? i.e. 3/4"-10
(The hub is the point where the mandrel or the spindle of a power tool attaches to a Hole Saw).
