WHEN SEVERE WEATHER STRIKES... the B&A FUSE BARREL REAMER is a power utility fuse reamer or fuse barrel reamer that is available to help quickly restore power when power outages are caused by severe weather, hurricanes,  lightning strikes, high winds, or natural disasters. Power Utility Fuse Bars are typically located near a line transformers and are designed to protect expensive transformers and other equipment from damage.

In many instances using a Power Utility Fuse Reamer, Fuse Bar Reamer or Fuse Barrel Reamer - power can be quickly and easily restored.

After a reported outage the line worker arrives on site and inspects the line and equipment.  The line worker then determines the amount and type damage.  In many instances no damage to the transformer has occurred, but the fuse is gone.  The line work then estimates the amount of time it will take to replace the fuse barrel and restore power usually several hours.  With a fuse barrel reamer to clean to fuse debris from the barrel and install a new fuse it usually takes less than one hour to restore power of such outages.  

The fuse barrel reamer or power utility fuse reamer is easy to use.  The line worker opens the utility line fuse barrel and inserts the utility fuse reamer.  The worker applies firm pressure and turn the reamer in a clock wise direction.  Moving the fuse barrel reamer in and out in successive movements will aid the utility fuse reamer to clear the fuse barrel quickly and easily.

The Fuse Bar Reamer was developed to clear unwanted debris from utility line fuse barrels.  The carbide tipped reamer quickly and efficiently clears the entire fuse barrel.  A new fuse can then be easily inserted into the fuse barrel and power restored.  This saves the cost of replacing the fuse barrel and most importantly, it helps restore power quickly in almost any power outage.  A must tool for any power utility line crew.
